Earlier this month we found out opening dates and details for the new Gran Destino Tower expansion at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort. Yesterday, Disney officially announced that the rooftop restaurant at the resort is now available for reservations starting on July 9th.
The restaurant is inspired by surrealist art found mainly in Spain. The concept art promises a sleek and unique dining room that will finally serve up traditional Spanish dishes on Disney World property. Ever since I discovered that there was a planned Spain pavilion for World Showcase at Epcot, I've been dying to find out when Disney would at least conjure up a Spanish restaurant.
With the announcement of reservations now being open, we also finally get a look at the menu. Toldeo promises to deliver a slew of tradition Spanish tapas. There will be an on-stage kitchen cooking up pintxos, cazuelas, charcuteríá and of course cheeses.
The pintxos selections feature an array of items like Salt Cod-stuffed Piquillo Peppers with goat cheese and toast, Olive Oil-poached Tuna, and Tortilla de Día wrapped in jamón serrano. Cazuelas include options such as Shrimp Pil Pil, Charred Octopus with romesco and chimichurri, and Rioja-braised Chorizo with field onions.
Seafood will also be a major star of this restaurant. Toldeo will have a seafood food menu compromised of 100% sustainable fish. Items will include Scallops with hummus, olives, and roasted carrots and Golden Tile Fish with petite potatoes and cauliflower.
And of course, we must also leave room for dessert at Disney. The restaurant will feature a collection of sweet finales such as the classic Crema Catalan, a Spanish staple. But more interesting, is that there will also be the option to sample a progressive dessert. A small sampling of several sweet dishes. All this paired up with a view of fireworks from Disney's Hollywood Studios. I smell a new favorite place to eat on the horizon.
