Ever since 2017, I've adored the nighttime projection show Disney Movie Magic at Disney's Hollywood Studios. In fact, I would go as far to say it's my favorite projection show at the parks. It's a tribute to all the live-action Disney films from the vault. From popular films such as Pirates of the Caribbean and Mary Poppins, to gone but not forgotten favorites such as 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and The Rocketeer. Sadly, it looks like it will be going away for a while, to make way for a brand-new projection show at Hollywood Studios.
The Wonderful World of Animation will be a 'love letter' to Disney animation. Tracing the company's roots from Mickey Mouse's first appearance in Steamboat Willie to new computer-animated films such as Ralph Breaks the Internet. The show is set debut on the park's 30th anniversary on May 1st, 2019. But yesterday, Disney provided us with a special sneak peek at what's to come!
The Wonderful World of Animation is schedule to have one nightly performance on The Chinese Theater before the park's fireworks spectacle, Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular. Currently for the month of May, that means this projection show will have a 9:05pm showtime with fireworks scheduled at 9:30pm. For the latest up-to-date information and showtimes, visit Disney's official website, or pick up a Times Guide when you visit the park. Fastpass+ reservations are not available at this show, but those guests participating in the Star Wars Dessert Party will get a reserved viewing spot for both evening shows.
