Lion King Inspired Treats Coming to Disney's Animal Kingdom

As if we haven't received enough exciting food updates, Disney has just announced that Disney's Animal Kingdom will soon feature a slew of treats inspired by the animated classic The Lion King. The film will be celebrating its big 25th anniversary this summer. In honor of the big party, Animal Kingdom will run a special limited time edition of the Tree of Life: Awakenings projection show. Featuring the tale of Simba. But if you want to celebrate with a fun sweet treat, then take a look at this great lineup of specialty food items coming to the park this summer starting on May 24th and available until the end of summer.


Simba Ice Cream Sandwich – Available at Tamu Tamu

Vanilla ice cream sandwiched between two chocolate chip cookies and decorated with chocolate tail and an image of Simba


Simba’s Sunset Dole Whip – Available at Tamu Tamu

Pineapple Dole Whip topped with red syrup made up of watermelon and coconut

Aside from all these delicious looking snacks and drinks, there are two other dining events taking place at the park and at a nearby hotel, also in honor of The Lion King. Circle of Flavors: Harambe at Night will be a unique dining event that will offer a three-course meal, and a private trip to Rafiki's Planet Watch to meet Timon and Rafiki. It will take place on select Wednesdays from July 24th to October 23rd and cost $125 for adults and $99 for kids 3-9. At Animal Kingdom Lodge, Jiko will host a special prix-fixe dining event that will include live entertainment. You can enjoy a four-course meal that follows the story of Simba and the menu will feature an array of African flavors. This will be available for a limited time only starting on June 30th and it will cost $65 per person and count as 2 table service meal credits on the Disney Dining Plan.
