Well, you probably knew this was coming. When Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge opens at Hollywood Studios on August 29th, the rest of the attractions inside the park will get some big changes when it comes to Fastpass+ reservations. As you know, Smuggler's Run will not offer Fastpass+ for the first few months of operation. This will actually help the standby line move at a decent pace. The same will happen with Rise of the Resistence when it opens later this year. Up until now, the three attractions in Toy Story Land have been placed in the tier 1 category, meaning guests can only choose one out of the three for a Fastpass+, and the remaining attractions have been placed in tier 2. That will all change come later this summer.
Guests visiting the park from August 29th onwards, will now be faced with picking just one Fastpass+ reservation between all three Toy Story attractions as well as Rock 'n' Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror. The latter two had previously been in the tier 2 category. Disney has clearly made this move in anticipation of big crowds inside the park, and spreading out the love between the parks star attractions outside of Galaxy's Edge. The only physical ride to remain in tier 2 will be Star Tours: The Adventures Continue. All of the shows at Hollywood Studios will also remain in the tier 2 category.
Here's a recap of all the attractions that will now offer Fastpass+ reservations in their respective categories:
Tier 1 (Choose one between the following):
Alien Swirling Saucers
Rock 'n' Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith
Slinky Dog Dash
Toy Story Mania
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
Tier 2 (Choose two between the following):
Disney Junior Dance Party
For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration
Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular
Muppet Vision 3D
Star Tours: The Adventures Continue
Voyage of the Little Mermaid
In the coming weeks, there will be a video on the Beyond the Kingdoms YouTube detailing Fastpass+ strategies, that takes these changes into consideration. Once Galaxy's Edge has been open for several months, Disney is expected to offer Fastpass+ reservations at the two attractions and we can expect another change in the categories.
