Today Disney has announced the official dates for this year's Food & Wine Festival at Epcot. Just when you thought this festival was long enough, Disney has decided to extend the popular event even more to a grand total of 87 days! This year's Food & Wine Festival will run from August 29th to November 23rd. However, the Eat to the Beat Concert Series will only run from the festival's start date to November 19th. This is to allow preparations for the popular Candlelight Processional show that is part of Epcot's Festival of the Holidays.
A few important notes on this announcement. First of all, Food & Wine will begin on the same day the first phase of Galaxy's Edge will open. Disney has previously announced that the new Star Wars expansion at Disney's Hollywood Studios will open in phases. On August 29th, one of the land's attractions will also open, Millennium Falcon: Smugger's Run. While not completely confirmed yet, a few dining and shopping locations will also open on August 29th. This means you can bet that a large number of locals will descend onto the parks for Labor Day Weekend.
Focusing back on Epcot, it is a little surprising that Disney has decided to stretch Food & Wine all the way up until the Saturday before Thanksgiving. This will only give Cast Members less than a week to switch over to Festival of the Holidays. Speaking of which, Disney has also announced the dates for Epcot's final event of the year. This year's Festival of the Holidays will run from November 29th to December 30th. This is in line with dates scheduled in previous years. However what is unclear is when the first Candlelight Processional performance will be. This is a very popular concert in World Showcase and in 2018 began a little before the official roll out for Festival of the Holidays.
At this time, there are no details on acts performing at both Eat to the Beat for Food & Wine and celebrity narrators for Candlelight Processional. These details and more are expected to be announced in the coming months.
