Disney's Animal Kingdom has a terrific lineup of dining opportunities. It may not rival the same amount of variety and sheer number of dining locations found at Epcot, but the quality is certainly there. This park is also terrific for those who crave something unique and exotic while on vacation at Disney World. But for those who want something more familiar, Restaurantosaurus over in DinoLand is getting a minor upgrade that appears to be a fantastic deal.
For just one price, you can select an entrée and a side dish and even build your own sundae! On the menu are gourmet burgers, a chicken sandwich, a veggie burger, and a salad. For the sides, choose from fries or onion rings served with a delicious house-made dipping sauce. Plus, your dinner also includes a non-alcoholic beverage.
The build-your-own sundae bar is definitely the highlight of this new dining experience. Each guests will be given a token that they can redeem for ice cream once they've finished their entrées. Guests will receive two scoops of ice cream from a Cast Member, then head over to a toppings bar to load up on all the goodies. From sprinkles to crushed cookies, a variety of sauces and more. It looks like this will be a heavenly ending for anyone with a sweet tooth.
Disney has also stated that the dining experience will also include small activities for the kids dining at the restaurant. "Guests will be able to color with fun dinosaur stencils while cast members entertain them with games and stories of the paleontology students who created the restaurant." Disney chefs and executives are clearly trying to find ways for guests to enjoy a relaxing meal on a budget at several quick service locations. For example, ABC Commissary over at Hollywood Studios is now offering reservations and gives guests a halfway table service experience. You order your food at the podiums like any quick service location, but food is brought to your table making the experience a little more comfortable.
Restaurantosaurus Burgers and Sundaes is available only during dinner on select nights beginning August 18 and is $22.99 plus tax for adults and $14.99 plus tax for children ages 3-9. Alcoholic beverages will also be available for purchase. This experience can also count as one quick-service meal entitlement on the Disney Dining Plan. Quick service dining at Restaurantosaurus will still be available. Guests partaking in this new dinner experience will check in at a designated register where they will be escorted to a table in a separate dining room. Reservations will be open starting tomorrow and can be made by calling 407 WDW-DINE (407 939-3463) or by visiting the Walt Disney World Resort website. Walk-ups are welcome but subject to availability.
